Camper Scholarships

The Mae "Coo" Harman Camper Scholarships

The Mae “Coo” Harman Scholarship honors the remarkable legacy of Mae “Coo” Harman, a beloved figure at Oregon Camp Cedarbrook. With over 50 years of service to the camp, Mae’s contributions were vital to its success, and her spirit continues to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.

Mae played an integral role in shaping the camp’s community. Throughout her tenure, she served in various capacities, most notably as the Shikari (Junior High) Division Director, where she nurtured and guided countless of counselors and campers. Mae also led various craft activities, where her creativity shone through—especially in her famous ceramic paintings that became a hallmark of her artistry.

Beyond her responsibilities, Mae’s love for the camp, its campers, and its staff was immeasurable. Her infectious personality and quick wit brought joy to everyone around her, and she had a unique ability to create mischief that made her a memorable and cherished presence. Whether she was sharing a laugh, offering guidance, or crafting an unforgettable experience, Mae was a constant source of warmth and joy at Camp Cedarbrook.

Sadly, Mae passed away in 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Her influence on the camp and its community is immeasurable, and her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. This scholarship was established in her honor to ensure that her memory lives on through the generations of campers who will continue to experience the camp she loved so much.

The Mae “Coo” Harman Scholarship provides financial assistance to campers wishing to attend Oregon Camp Cedarbrook, enabling them to experience the magic, camaraderie, and growth that Mae so deeply cherished. It is our hope that through this scholarship, Mae’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and love for others will continue to inspire and impact future generations.

Through the Mae “Coo” Harman Scholarship, we celebrate Mae’s life, her infectious love for camp, and the enduring friendships she built. We encourage all who benefited from Mae’s kindness and humor to honor her memory by supporting future generations of campers.
