Spiritual Standard
All members of the Board of Directors and volunteers serving in any capacity shall be those who are committed to Christ, His service, and seek to manifest the kind of life expressed in Romans 12:10-12.
“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above your selves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Statement of Faith
We believe in one God, eternally existent and co-equally in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, distinguishable but indivisible.
Matthew 28:19; John 14:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of men, born of the Virgin Mary, fully God and fully man.
Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18
We believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of Scriptures as originally given (66 books). The Scriptures are infallible, inerrant, and the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21
We believe we were created in the image of God, and that we have sinned, incurring both physical and spiritual death. We believe that all human beings are born in sin and that this sinful nature is the origin of all acts in thought, word and deed that fall short of the glory of God.
Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; 5:12,18; 6:23
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as a biological male (“man”) or biological female (“woman”), and that these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God.
Genesis 1:26-27
We believe that God designed marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, for life, which uniquely reflects one of the most sacred truths of our faith: Christ’s relationship with His Church.
We believe that God intends for sexual intimacy to occur exclusively between a man and a woman who are married to each other, and that no sexual activity should take place outside of this marital union.
Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:1-9; Romans 1:18-32; Ephesians 5:21-33; Hebrews 13:4
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration, through the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary, to all who confess and repent from their sins, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:11; Hebrews 9:12, 22; 1 John 1:9
We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus to heaven, His exaltation, His present work as High Priest and advocate, and personal, literal and bodily coming again the second time for His Church.
John 14: 2-3; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 4:14-16
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit in illuminating, regenerating, indwelling, and sanctifying of the Christian.
John 16:13; Romans 8:14-16; 2 Thessalonians 2:13
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved to everlasting life, and the lost to everlasting torment at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Mark 9:43-48; Acts 24:15; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:20-24; 2 Thessalonians 1:9 Revelation 20:10-15
In addition to these fundamental truths, and in light of the ever-changing world around us, we hold these truths to be biblical and unchanging…
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (such as adultery, fornication, cohabitation, homosexual behavior, rejection of one’s biological sex, use of pornography, etc.) is sinful and offensive to God.
Genesis 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-19; Exodus 20:14; Romans 1:24-27, 1:32
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; Matthew 15:18-20
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. All human life, from conception to natural death – including pre-born babies, the aged, and the physically and mentally challenged – holds immeasurable value and dignity. We are therefore called to defend, protect and value all human life.
Genesis 9:6; Psalm 139; Matthew 9:36, 18:1-6; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Judges 13:7; Galatians 1:15
Statement on Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct
Our statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source for all that we believe. For the purposes of Oregon Camp Cedarbrook’s faith, doctrine, practices, policy and discipline, our Board of Directors is The Camp’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.
If you have further questions on Oregon Camp Cedarbrook’s stance on any of the above doctrines, or anything concerning our faith and theology, please email our Board President at boardpresident@oregoncampcedarbrook.com.
